Summary Description:
We are seeking a candidate with laboratory experience for a full-time onsite position to assist with develop manufacturing processes for viral production, purification, scale-up, and final formulation. This individual will report to and work closely with Associate Director, Process Development and our Discovery and R&D teams to develop and optimize manufacturing operations. We are looking for someone with upstream (cell culture and possibly virus) experience who is ready to broaden their skillset to include some purification and formulation process development.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop scalable processes for production, purification, and formulation of viral vaccines and therapeutics.
  • Design and execute bench- and pilot-scale experiments optimize and characterize processes for cGMP drug substance and drug product.
  • Develop and execute test methods as needed for process and formulation development (e.g., cell-based assays, residual impurity, qPCR, ELISA).
  • Transfer manufacturing and testing processes to external partners for scale-up and clinical manufacturing.
  • Document experiments, key activities, and results according to company policy.
  • Analyze data, summarize conclusions and plans for further action, and present results to team members and management in a clear and timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of media, stock solutions, and reagents used in process development experiments and share in laboratory upkeep.

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires B.S. or M.S. in a scientific discipline (Microbiology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Biochemical Engineering, or related discipline).
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience.
  • Experience and working knowledge of cell culture and harvest/recovery equipment (centrifugation, depth filtration, and TFF) in PD or GxP setting.
  • Comfort with statistical analysis and related software (Excel, GraphPad, JMP, Prism) as well as MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and adhere to program schedules.
  • Strong communication and critical/analytical thinking skills.
  • Collaborative mindset: Willingness to share experimental plans and progress, and to seek and consider input from colleagues.
  • High degree of independence, proactivity, and personal accountability.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated ability to design, execute, and analyze experiments.
  • Hands-on experience with various purification, filtration and formulation equipment and techniques.
  • Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and Quality by Design (QbD) for process development.
  • Technology transfer and process fit experience.
