Senior Director, Portfolio Strategy and Program Management
Codagenix Inc. is a clinical-stage synthetic biology company that uses software to recode the genomes of viruses, constructing live-attenuated vaccines or viruses to prevent viral infections or treat solid tumors. Summary Description:
Codagenix is looking for an experienced Senior Director, Portfolio Strategy and Program Management to build the Program Management function and help drive our ambitious platform and portfolio. This newly created role will be responsible for implementing and guiding the product and portfolio development process and programs, managing product and functional timelines, and supporting and improving cross-functional forums (i.e., project teams, leadership team).
Reporting to our Chief Strategy Officer, the Senior Director, Portfolio Strategy and Program Management is a high impact, high visibility role that is an exciting opportunity for someone with exceptional decision-making, prioritization, risk assessment and communication skills. The Senior Director, Portfolio Strategy and Program Management will ensure all employees have clear visibility to team objectives, roles and responsibilities and timelines and will be responsible for initiating best practices across the organization.
Responsibilities Include:
- Together with the selected SME program lead, drives the product development team, ensuring setting and distribution of meeting agendas, summaries, and tracking action items.
- Leads the development and implementation of a program management system.
- Establishes simple processes for reporting and project risk management and informed decision-making for all teams, including assuring that periodic team meetings address key topics, risks, and SME needs in real time.
- Works closely with function leads and SMEs to design and implement road maps for all stages of project development including from lead nomination to clinical to licensure or partnership.
- Creates and manages all product development timelines, Gantts or other planners, budgets, supporting documentation and team meeting management tools.
- Aligns product development activities with corporate strategies, milestone commitments to investors, regulatory submission plans, potential partners, collaborators, grantors and the Board.
- Establishes full transparency of Team activities, risks, needs, etc. to leadership team
- Assists the leadership team with prioritization of drug development activities across the pipeline as required by Regulatory Authorities, potential licensing partners, investors, and the Board.
- Makes recommendations to leadership team regarding improvements and adjustments to the team or other resources required to accomplish product development milestones.
- Supports Strategy group operations (meetings, processes, budget, contracting, hiring).
- Serves as SME for regulatory partnership and continuous improvement activities.

Job Qualifications:
- Degree in scientific field; advanced degree preferred
- Advanced Six Sigma Certification preferred
- Strong experience/understanding of biologic drug and regulatory development (vaccines preferred, oncology experience helpful)
- Strong leadership and management skills in vaccine/biologics development with at least 5 years of successful team leadership and empowerment
- At least 12 years of experience within multiple areas of biotech/pharma (discovery and development, program management, analytics, lab management, regulatory affairs, partner management, culture management, process excellence)
- Proven track record of delivering product development milestones under tight timelines
- Robust understanding of product development at all stages
- Demonstrated proficiency in program management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Microsoft Project) and methodology. Willingness to implement and continuously improve project management tools and skillset through best practices
- Experience managing change in an organization
- Ability to travel (less than 10% of time) primarily for domestic activities, limited international travel
